Raewyn Connell “Why We Need Social Science”

Raewyn Connell’s erudite essay reminds us that not only are all things- institutions, people, places- ultimately connected, but that the way various groups, concepts, and objects are perceived is in and of itself important. The Social Sciences are important because ultimately everything is about human beings, and a lack of knowledge and understanding about so fundamental a thing as ourselves makes every other endeavor pointless.
